Saturday, September 26 | 3:00–6:00 PM ET
In Person (Location TBD) + Live Virtual Attendance
There’s more than one way to skin a cat, and there’s more than one way to write a powerful petition paper. In this two-parter class, we’ll cover how to write petitions and how to create powders in Hoodoo. In both areas, we’ll cover the history in the tradition and how we got to the modern form.
We’ll examine how various dirts, clays, plants, dusts, and animal ingredients can be combined to create powders, and the ritual process of creating a powder.
We’ll take a little break, then come back to craft 3 petitions and 2 powders, under September’s harvest Full Moon in Aries:
A name ward
Money Petition
Health Petition
Call Me Powder
Protection Powder
In-person participants will receive the supplies needed during class to formulate their own powder and petitions.
You’ll be able to work directly alongside, ask questions throughout the process, and leave with the powders and petitions you created during the class.
All class supplies are included with in-person registration.
Virtual participants will join the class live and receive the same historical instruction, formulation guidance, demonstrations, and opportunity to ask questions.
Please note that physical supplies are not included with virtual registration.
Access to the live class
Live discussion and Q&A
Replay access
A digital course workbook
Repeatable recipes and workings
A curated reading and resource list
This intensive is appropriate for beginners as well as practitioners who want to deepen their understanding of formulation.
No previous experience writing petitions or creating powders is required.
It is intentionally designed as a Black learning space in which we can discuss spiritual technologies and applications.
